About

I live and create art in New Orleans, a city that supports art of every stripe,  including art like mine that involves painting intricate images on the back of dominoes.   My technique involves using pen and pigmented ink to create  an original image on the back of a 2" x 1" white domino (my tiny canvas!).   Some tiles I embellish with polymer clay, acrylic, or other objects.  Once the tile is done I seal it.  For small pieces I will mount the tile on a canvas background and then frame it.  For larger pieces I attach a number of dominoes in layers onto a canvas.  My largest piece, "The Group and Marianna" is 72" x 48" with nearly 2000 painted dominoes.

My art has two themes:  faces with exaggerated expressions, and Louisiana/French Quarter icons and images.  My faces are influenced by my background in psychology (a PhD in sensory psychology) and fascination with the limitless number of possible facial expressions.

I also enjoy creating digital art, including digital illustrations and animations, but regardless of the medium, my goal is to create unique, whimsical, joyful, 3-dimensional pieces that are hard to look away from. I also enjoy working with clients to create specific pieces that are exactly what they want. What this means is that as you look at the pieces of art on my website, keep in mind that any of the pieces you see are available for you to purchase. A number of the pieces on my site have already been sold but I leave them on because I can easily recreate similar (but always original) pieces--and make any changes you would like including different color(s), size, and/or content. So, if you see a piece you would like--with or without variation--contact me so we can discuss exactly what you want, the price, and when the piece will be available.
